2019 is my 4th year as primary organizer for the Waterloo Cycling Club's Your Big Ride. To date we've raised just shy of $50,000 in support of the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington and their awesome Minds in Motion program.
The Minds in Motion program enables people fighting dementia to take part in an 8-week program that includes an hour of physical activity and an hour of counseling each week. In 2018 our efforts enabled 40 people to take part in this program that otherwise would not have had this support.
Dementia is a disease that has touched me personally both within my own family and the families of a number of my friends. Seeing how this disease impacts both the people, their families and their friends has made it very clear to me that services to help improve quality of life are critically important.
Please help me help people that need our support. I'm willing to work hard for your support! On August 24th I'll be riding 220km to help raise funds for this great cause.
If you'd like to see where 220km will take me you can see the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/events/96364-road-fast-your-big-ride
Thank you in advance for your support!
